Advent 2020 - December 1st

Hello my dears, I hope you're all doing well.  I'm back this evening with my first true advent update of 2020.

I've been working on my niece's blanket today, so I've nothing new to show you project wise, just a few more stripes added.  So let's dive right into the advent calendars themselves!

Let's start with Finn's calendar.  It took him all of 20 seconds to remember how advents work, and that this means he gets an extra treat!

He can be a good boy when he wants to, but don't let this fool you!  I've had to hide his calendar, as later he was trying to pull it out from the pile so that he could eat all of the treats on day 1!

Today's Advent of Change donation has gone to Frontline AIDS, who are a global organisation working with marginalised people to help prevent, diagnose, and treat HIV and AIDS.  Like all charities, their fundraising has been adversely affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, and their work has been made more difficult by the added complications of Covid-19.

These are the things that I discovered in my calendars today:

Made by Penguins - On the left of the photo is a 20g, 4-ply, sparkly mini-skein, in white and mint green, with tiny, subtle flecks of pastel pink, lilac, and yellow.  There is also a small round, metal tin, with Brian the Christmas Penguin on the lid, and containing 2 wooden buttons with "Handmade with love" written on them.

Mothy and the Squid - At the top right of the photo is a 10g, 4-ply mini-skein, in pink, white, and turquoise, with lots of purple speckles.  It's laid on top of the small lilac drawstring bag that is was concealed in.

T2 - At the bottom and middle of the photo is a sachet of "Jade Mountain" loose leaf tea.

Lindt - At the bottom right of the photo are 2 little chocolate reindeer.

While watching tv tonight we've brewed up todays tea.  Jade Mountain tea is a green tea with cocoa nibs and nutty bits.  I have to admit that it's not really to our taste.  From my point of view, flavours like cocoa and nuts belong in coffee or hot chocolate, not tea, and especially not green tea.  Still, it was drinkable enough.

Our very lovely friends Jo and Ian brought these home baked ginger biscuits, decorated like 20-sided dice, for Stephen's birthday.  You may have noticed some in the last photo, being served with our tea.  What you probably didn't notice was that I'd carefully arranged my biscuit to disguise the fact that while I was brewing the tea, some little furry kleptomaniac nibbled a corner off my cookie!

You have to forgive him though, because he's just so cute.  We keep telling him that when Covid is over, we'll be taking him to be weighed at the vets again, and if, as we suspect, he has gained a bit of lockdown weight, he will have to learn what a diet is!

Right, that's it for today, back again in a day or so.  Sweet dreams my dears.
