Advent 2020 - day 2

Hello again my dears.  I don't know how long I can keep up posting every day, but lets see...

Today I got out my mitred squares blanket again for the first time in a few months, and added a few more squares.  This feels a little selfish, as I do have gift projects, and other wips that I should be working on instead, but now and then you just need to do what gives you the most joy.

I have a plan for the mini's from my Made by Penguins calendar, which hopefully you should find out about on Christmas Eve.  I've started winding the Mothy and the Squid mini's though, and I'll be adding them to the mitred squares blanket in order, I think, unless I decide that I don't like the way the colours go with the colours on the previous row of squares.

This is just about all I've achieved today mind.  I've walked Finn, and changed the filter in our water jug, but poor Stephen has had to do basically everything else, as my body decided that walking the dog was it's limit.

Today Finn got 2 little heart biscuits in his doggy advent calendar.

The Advent of Change donation today went to 52 Lives who aim to improve the lives of one person a week, every week, meaning that they will change 52 lives every year.

The contents of today's advent calendars:

Made by Penguins - on the left of the photo, a 20g, sparkly, 4-ply mini-skein, in several shades of purple.  When I opened this door I shouted "Ooooh!" and waved the yarn at a slightly bemused Stephen.  I like it very much.

Mothy and the Squid - on the top right of the photo, a cream coloured skein with lots of dark green speckles, and a few rusty brown speckles, laid on top of a beige drawstring bag.

T2 - at the bottom middle of the photo, a sachet of Frosted Fruitcake loose leaf tea.

Lindt - at the bottom right of the photo, a square of lindt chocolate.

Today's tea brewed up for our final cuppa of the day.  Also the final 2 of Stephen's birthday biscuits, which Finn is still very keen on sharing!

I quite liked this one, which is rooibos based, with hints of Christmas spices.  Stephen thought it tasted better with the sweetness of the cookie, rather than just on it's own.

Finally, this arrived through my door today!

I backed this as a kickstarter earlier in the year, because mixing games, and geekery, and knitting is very much my thing.  It has been created by Lola of Third Vault Yarns, in collaboration with several other independent designers.  At present I think only Volume 1 is available on the website.  Volume 1 is based on traditional board games that you probably played as a child.  Volume 2 is inspired by more modern games, usually played by slightly geeky adults at parties.  So far Volume 2 is only shipping to people who backed the kickstarter, but I'm sure it will be available to buy soon.

It's now half past midnight, although I promise I did start writing this on December 2nd, it's going to be published a little late!

I'm off to bed now.  Sweet dreams, and take care my dears.
