Oh dear. Something that I know about myself, but that I would do well to remember more often - I'm not a last minute sort of person. I'm a plan it well in advance sort of person, with flexibility for the unexpected.
So, I'd planned this trip up to Newcastle for today. Then yesterday my cold was so bad that I decided I couldn't possibly be fit to drive today. Then at midday I decided that I'd had a near miraculous recovery, and actually I would be ok to drive. The problem was that because last night I thought I wasn't going to be travelling today, I made no preparations. As a result, although I have made it safely up to Newcastle today, complete with a big bag of sweeties and presents to put into the advent calendars, apparently I've only actually brought one of the calendars!!!
AAARRRRRGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111111
Anyway, I'm here. I have Gemma's socks with me to work on, and I have my own advent calendars at least.
I also took a couple of photos of things that I forgot to include yesterday:
Since I bought these for myself, and their total cost was less than £2, I don't think it matters too much that I forgot about them. Silly penguin baubles.
This rather quizzical looking fellow though, I really shouldn't have forgotten about him! Stephen saw him when he was in Sheffield city centre on his lunch break last week. Apparently he was the lone penguin amid a crowd of Minions. Stephen rescued him and brought him home to his new penguin mama.
I don't name many of my penguins, but I have named this one Trevor, because he has leathery, leathery feet!
I was sick, and probably had a fever, it's not my fault OK!
Ahem. Anyway, back to things of advent.
Today we had a Star Anise and Citrus candle, and I could definitely smell the anise much more this time.
The tea is called "Black tea with Honey & Melon", although the ingredients list is black tea, licorice, cinnamon, and cloves. I haven't had a chance to drink it yet, so I don't know what to expect at all to be honest!
The yarn seems to be a sort of mixed up rainbow, which you'll be able to see better in the next photo:
So the yarn started as orange, then it's gone to a sort of mottled green, coming up on the ball I can see purple, bright green, yellow, and there's just the tiniest hint of it returning to orange again after that.
Sometimes it bothers me that I can't fit a full range of colours into one square, but then I think of how different several squares knit from the same ball will look, and that there will be no 2 squares alike anywhere in my blanket, and that pleases me very much.
Now it is definitely bed time. I may be mostly better, but it was a very late night last night, and the drive has left me very tired.
Sweet dreams my dears!
